The Serpent

Jormugand⛧
It
had been approximately 160 day's since Jormugand's first arrival upon Earth's
soil. Oh the wicked and immoral things that occurred within the dark crevices
of the city life. Homicidal junkies killing in cold blood. Villains and crooks
quenching their thirst for greed by thieving from the less fortunate. Self-loathing
imbeciles drowning within their own sorrow's while self-mutilating themselves.
Gluttonous hounds over indulging themselves with so many lavished luxuries to
the point of their own demise.
Little
did they know that diabolus himself stood there and deviously smiled at the
beauty of their own foolish ways. Ignorantly devouring every single
nonessential thing before them like ravenous and ungrateful beasts.
And
this was the portrayal of the human race depicted within the eyes of Jormugand.
How
dreary the underworld truly was. A depressing place filled with lost and
suffering souls; enduring a lifetime of pain and grief. But the Earth was so
alive and rich with sinful brilliance. It was almost a pity that Earth wasn't
hell itself, because it could most certainly live up to that title. And how
lush it was with so many fresh new souls to devour; so many delicate spirits to
corrupt. Jormugand was a master of puppets among a whole world of pawn's just
waiting to be toyed with… It was quite exhilarating.
There
he stood on the top of a tall skyscraper while peering down at the human race
like insignificant insects. The effervescence of the wind freely danced within
the dark strands of his long hair. Within its blustery howl, he could faintly
hear the sound of a woman sobbing nearby. With a daring effort, he boldly took
a step forward and let his body drop from the skyscraper; plunging down below
him like a bullet descending from the sky. Though when his feet reached the
outer edge of a stone balcony, he gracefully landed upon its surface.
His
beautiful and other worldly formed defied gravity itself.
The
sound of his descent was silent but she could feel his vital presence standing
before her. The bags of her eyes were painted with smudged mascara that trailed
down her cheeks. And she brushed away a strand of her golden hair from her
yellow eye's. Such grief and misery painted upon her dishearten expression.
This was not the first time she had wept upon this balcony. This of course he
knew, because he knew just about everything there was to know.

Misa♙
With
her Shinigami eye's she peered up at him; noticing nothing but a few unearthly
hieroglyphs plastered above his head. Little did she knew that these
hieroglyph's translated into the world: Diabolus.
Her
pupils contracted as her golden eye's grew wide.
"Y-Your
lifespan… I can't see it…" Her eye's squinted to focus more clearly, but
the characters remained the same. "Who… who are you?"
"Poor
little Misa Amane. You've been crying here every night baring such conflict within your soul. Well tell me, is tonight the night? Are you going to throw
yourself off of this balcony and plummet to the solid ground beneath? Or are
you going to wait for him to come back to you?"
An
eerie sensation tingled at her spine but at the same time she was completely
baffled at his questioning. Typically, Misa was very sprightly and vibrant but
she had lost her glow to the distress of heartbreak. But how did he seem like
he knew so much? Was he just intuitive enough to land a lucky guess? Was he a
stalking pervert who had been watching her cry for several nights? Perhaps… or
perhaps she was speaking to the devil himself.
Nonetheless,
whoever this mysterious stranger was, he couldn't have been more right. She had
been here every night for several months drowning in her own tears having
nothing but the stone cold ground to comfort her. To be released from such
great deal of pain would be the bittersweet ending she so desired. The comfort
of death seemed like the only way out, but at the same token it would mean that
all this time she had been waiting would be for not.
All this time she had been waiting for him: Light Yagami.
"Light…"
She
fell back into her sobbing while speaking his name with a quivering voice.
Jormugand
simply placed his hand on to her head while tenderly stroking her hair.
"Shhhh…
Don't you cry my dear. For there is a place in the universe where all of your
pain and suffering will cease to be. A never ending road lined with peace and
joy in which you may wander freely for the rest of your life. A world where the
flowers never stop growing, where the trees are always lush, and the people are
beautiful. But most of all, a world in which you are able to see Light
again."
Her
face darted up to peer up at him; his dark hollow eyes glimmering upon his
beautiful visage. The two of them both gazed at each other for what felt like
an eternity.
And
then she finally began to speak…
"You
know where Light is? W-Where is he?" She asked with her meek voice.
"Where
else would he be? Consistorium of course…"
"Consi…storium?"
She stuttered in confusion from this word.
"Consistorium
is a small world that is intertwined within a series of stars and planets. It
derives inside the galaxy known as Andromeda; a galaxy that isn't far from our
Milky Way. There is a realm that links our world and Consistorium together; Astral
Imperium is its name. Tell me Misa, have you ever heard of the hidden mountain
known as Hoshi No Mountain?"
Misa
provided him with a silent response by merely shaking her head.
"Hoshi
No Mountain is not so far from Tokyo. It is one of the mountain's on Earth with
an Astral portal nestled within it. But unfortunately, only a human being
bearing a connection to someone on the other side of the Astral realm can
unseal the portal. Miss Amane… I can guide you there, but you will have to be
the one to open the portal."
What
on Earth was spewing from his lips? Consistorium? Astral Imperium? Astral
portals? None of it made any sense; it was all complete nonsensical bull shit.
"Are
you drunk or something? You know drugs are extremely bad for you mister. Even
if something like that was true at all, then how would you know that Light is
on the other side?"
A
devious smirk slowly emerged upon his face. His fingertips met with the apples
of her cheeks and he bowed his head as his eyes focused within hers.
"There
are things about me that you could never understand Misa Amane. The knowledge
and power that lives within my spirit is incomprehensible to someone of meager
mortality. Stare deep into the windows of my soul and give me one good reason
that would completely contrast my honesty. Tell me Misa… would I ever lie to
you?"
She
was completely fixated upon him. And within the reflection of his dilated
pupils, she saw the things that she had desired so very much. She saw herself
reunited with Light; his arms embracing her and holding her tightly. It was so
surreal yet explicit enough that she could even hear Light's voice whispering
into her ear. It was almost as if his lips were right near the lobe and even
the warmth of his breath could be felt upon her face.
"No…
When I look into your eyes, I see the things that I want most in this entire
world. And it makes me feel right as rain. Mister… Take me to this place that
you call Consistorium. If it means that Light is there, I will wander that
entire planet to find him."
And
there he had her… She was entrapped by the visions eluding from his compelling
eyes. And the moment he blinked, she fainted upon the ground before his knee's.
With
the back of his hand, he swept away the hair from his shoulders. "Let us
leave this place, Miss Amane."
"Fear the deception of the Serpent… For his tongue
maybe smooth as velvet, but his true purpose is as agonizing as the knife in
your back."
